This presentation explores the critical role higher education institutions (HEIs) play in shaping future careers, focusing on the dynamic journey from prospective applicant to student and, finally, to graduate. It examines the evolving career landscape within the framework of universities, highlighting the unique challenges and opportunities that arise for both students and staff in the modern academic environment. By addressing the distinct needs of students, academic, and non-academic staff, the presentation will discuss how HEIs must adapt to future career demands, providing insights into skill development, employability, and the integration of new technologies. Additionally, it will emphasize the role of EuroTeQ, a leading university alliance, in offering enhanced academic and research capabilities that contribute to career-building initiatives across multiple institutions. Through a balanced focus on personal development and institutional transformation, this session will provide a comprehensive view of how HEIs can serve as platforms for growth, innovation, and career success in a rapidly changing world.

The idea of the EuroTeQ project is for each partner, from its multicultural background, to provide added value to the EuroTeQ cooperation. The success of the cooperation relies on the effective collaboration between partners. The presentation aims to explore staff mobility options within EuroTeQ, with a particular focus on the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) organised by TalTech in collaboration with TUM and CTU in spring this year. The programme targeted colleagues from European Universities Alliances, enabling the exchange of practises and the sharing of experiences within the different alliances.

Managing a European University is no easy feat, especially when it comes to balancing heavy administration with impactful initiatives. In this short session, we will share and discuss three critical lessons learned from our experience in managing the EuroTeQ Engineering University since 2020.

1. Moving beyond self-administration: Prioritize genuine activities that serve your target groups by allocating personnel resources effectively.

2. Clarity in focus and messaging: A clear direction and message are essential to building a successful alliance.

3. Personal resilience & change management: Resilience and a well-structured change management plan are key in driving long-term institutional change.

Join us to explore these insights and more, as we delve into the intricacies of effective cross-border university management – within a trust-based partnership.

In 2023, we organized “AIvolution” in the European Parliament, with the goal of presenting the key trends in automation and digitalisation, and of discussing their societal implications, their impact on democracy and the need for regulation in the EU. Speakers included academics from different European universities and the private sector who are driving the AI revolution or studying it closely.

The EUDTP inter-disciplinary conference, to be held in 2025, aims at continuing this conversation, by bringing together researchers, professionals, scholars of different backgrounds, and policymakers, to enable exchanges about broad-impact digital technologies and policies in the EU. This includes information-related technologies (AI, quantum, nanotechnologies), digital infrastructures (Internet, IOT, cloud, mobile) and chip manufacturing (semiconductors), digital sovereignty issues (disinformation, data privacy), energy and materials considerations (energy production, stocking, distribution; raw materials mining).
